Our History |
Sandji was created in the summer of 2006, by a group of African students attending the John Whitehead School of Diplomacy and International Relations at Seton Hall University, who felt the duty and the moral obligation to establish an organization to address the economic, social and human right issues in Africa, and promote change. Born and raised in Africa, the founders experienced war, poverty, hardship, injustice and hopelessness that inspired their commitment to give back to the continent. The students believe that their personal background knowledge of Africa and its people, combined with the education they have been granted on the field of international studies, position them among the most fit to implement better solutions to the continent?s problems. Thus, they believed in the need for Sandji, which symbolizes a cleansing downpour of rain that will wash away many of Africa?s social troubles and bring about a new beginning.

Our Motivation
Sandji is motivated by:
The continuing mass killings, rape, genocide, and the displacement of millions throughout the continent.
The shortage of true grassroots peace building mechanisms which combines modern and traditional methods of dispute resolution.
The limited involvement of the traditional and religious leaders in the Peace building process.
The scarcity of basic educational and healthcare facilities in many rural areas in Africa.
